(We at Island Sports Physical Therapy are very aware of the vast range of benefits of exercise for the older person, including blood-pressure control, diabetes control, enhancing muscle strength and balance, and prevention of osteoporosis, to name a few).

Forty percent of Island Sports Physical Therapy's patients are over the age of sixty. The staff at ISPT evaluates and treats a myriad of injuries and illnesses among the geriatric population. Common diagnoses include:

  • ISPT has a multidisciplinary team of physical therapists and assistants, exercise physiologists, athletic trainers, a dietician, and a cardiac care specialist. The facility boasts a special aquatics program, balance prevention, individualized treatment, and a fitness aftercare program.

    On staff is a geriatric clinical specialist who addresses the unique medical and functional problems associated with aging, incorporating aspects of prevention, fitness, wellness, consultation and teaching in addition to rehabilitation.
